Bells Corners Animal Hospital is one of a few hospitals in the area to offer medical care for avian and exotic pets.  All of our veterinarians have a special interest in avian and exotic species.  The most common exotic pets we treat include:  birds (cockatiel size and smaller), rabbits, ferrets and pocket pets including guinea pigs, chinchillas, hedgehogs, gerbils, degus, hamsters, rats and mice.

Services we provide include wellness check-ups to aid in the detection of disease before any clinical signs develop, nutritional and husbandry counseling, medical care for sick pets, spays and neuters for several species, dentistry, and surgical care if required.  Appointments for a nail trim, tooth trim, beak trim or a wing clip can be booked with one of our technicians.

Regular physical examinations will allow your veterinarian to assess your pet from the tip of their nose to their tip of their tail.  Physical examinations usually involve inspection of the ears, eyes, nose, oral cavity, skin, coat (or feathers or quills), lymph nodes, abdominal palpation and auscultation of your pet’s chest to detect any abnormalities in their heart or lungs.  Vital signs including heart rate and respiration rate are also taken.

We also have a fully stocked pharmacy and carry a specialized critical care diet for sick pets.

If you have any questions regarding your pet, please do not hesitate to call us.
